Bowl of Pears

Pears often seem to take the longest to ripen once we've brought them home from the market. It's always a reward though, when we bite into one that's been ripened perfectly, if we can wait! I've noticed that while pears mature, they do lose some pigment in their skins, but at the same time they soften, making it easier to eat and so much more juicy!
